Nomination Day: the 5th of July
On the Fourth of July, we celebrated our independence. The next morning, we got down to the work of governing ourselves. Nomination Day, celebrated on the Fifth of July, is dedicated to finding the very best leaders our country has to offer.
While there are many ways to make an impact, people in elected office hold incredibly vast and completely unique powers in the United States. Making laws -- making wars -- choosing the Supreme Court, and deciding how to spend the almost $10 trillion dollars that come from federal, state, and local governments every year. Nobody but the government can do these things. So, for these uniquely powerful roles, we must have uniquely good people. And we believe that the only way to find these leaders is with the help of the people who know them best -- you.
Unfortunately, we all know very well that the people who run for office are not always the people we most want to run for office. But we also know that telling someone they should run is incredibly powerful encouragement, and often makes the difference in someone's decision. We want to make this encouragement as easy and as impactful as possible. Fill out the form below, and we'll take it from there, providing the strongest nominees with support and resources to get them on their path to office.
But what kind of people make good leaders? Research that looks at 150 countries across the world shows a strong and simple lesson. The best people to have in office are those who have two crucial qualities: 1) They care about everybody they make policy for, and 2) They make their decisions based on good information -- not on rumors, pseudo-science, revenge, or what they've been told they're "supposed" to do. So take the time to think -- who do you know like that? Who would you want most, to make the big decisions in our country? Because we want to do everything we can to help people like that make it.
